Schmuck’d Up was founded in December 2018, and was born out of both necessity and passion. “As a Pediatric Emergency Department nurse at UIOWA, I spent long shifts in black scrubs—any bearded guy knows the struggle of dreaded beardruff,” said Joe Schmuecker, founder of Schmuck’d Up. “After trying countless beard care products, I never found one that truly worked for me. Some had the wrong consistency, while others were overpoweringly scented.”

Joe was determined to create a better product, so he dove into researching the best ingredients for beard oils and balms. He found and selected the ingredients that offered the most benefits, and began experimenting and crafting small batches for himself. Soon thereafter, he shared his products with family and friends and word started to spread quickly! “Before I knew it, Schmuck’d Up was born—a brand dedicated to high-quality, handcrafted beard care,” said Joe. Joe is a one-man show, he had to learn everyone about processing the products, accounting, web design, marketing, label design – he does it all himself!

But even beyond that, Joe felt a calling to start this business. “I did it for myself and my family. After years of working for someone else, I wanted to show my daughters that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Success isn’t guaranteed, but you’ll never know unless you have the courage to try,” said Joe.

And through Schmuck’d Up, Joe has had the opportunity to give back to the community. “What started as a personal solution has grown into something bigger, and I’m grateful for the journey,” Joe said.

How to use Schmuk’d Up Products
